I can't remember my Athens Username / Password.
If you have forgotten your Athens username and password please contact
our enquiries service.
How do I change my Athens password?
You can change your Athens password by logging into the My
Athens web page using your personal Athens username and password.
However, if you have forgotten your password please contact our
enquiries service.
Athens says that my Departmental Athens
username or password is incorrect.
Please note: Athens accounts are not usable immediately
after they have been created. It may take up to four hours for your
account to be activated once you have registered. You will not be
able to login to your Online Library resources during this time.
Athens usernames and passwords are case-sensitive. This means that
usernames and passwords must be typed exactly, using the appropriate
upper and lower case letters.
Check to see if the Caps Lock light on your keyboard
is lit up. If so, press the Caps Lock key and try logging on again.
Check to see that you are entering all characters and digits of
your username and password correctly and please note that your password will have the 3-letter prefix "ull". If you have forgotten your
Departmental Athens username and password please contact our enquiries
service.
Resource Enquiries
I have a valid Athens account, but can't access
a particular resource.
Here is a list of possible suggestions to help you access a particular
resource. If you are still unable to login after following these suggestions
please contact our enquiries service.
Please note: Athens accounts are not usable
immediately after they have been created. It may take up to four

You will not be able to login to your Online Library resources
during this time.

if your password was "MyPassword1", "mypassword1"
would be rejected by Athens. If you can't access a particular
resource, check to see if the Caps Lock light on your keyboard

Check that the resource you are trying to access is available
to your user account. You can find out which online resources
and services you have access to by logging into the My
Athens web page using your personal Athens username and password.
If the resource that you are trying to access is not listed this
means that you do not currently have access to that resource. If
you require further information, please contact our

still are unable to access it please contact our

Which resources can I access using my Athens
account?
You can find out which online resources and services you have access
to by logging into the My
Athens web page using your personal Athens username and password.
Why are there no resources for my course?
Unfortunately, whilst our long term aim is to make the Online Library
part of the core service for all International Programme students, we
are not able to launch services for all courses at once.

Why does my Athens username and password expire
before the end of my course?
All International Programme students' personal Athens usernames and passwords are set to expire on 31st December each year. The 31st December was chosen to ensure that any International Programme students who need to re-sit any examinations still have access to their Library resources. At the beginning of December, the Online Library Team will automatically renew the accounts of all eligibale fully registered students to 31st December of the following year. You therefore have no need to worry about having a valid Athens account and have access to your Library resources for the whole duration of your programme of study. .

in my Athens account have changed?
If you change your name, your programme of study, your Email or your
postal address, please contact our
enquiries service with your new information.

Why do I need an Email account in order
to register for an Athens account?
When you register for an Athens account you will be asked to give
your Email address. Your username and password will be sent to this
address once you completed the registration process.
How can I set up an Email account?
Many companies on the Internet provide a web based Email account
free of charge. With this kind of account you can receive and send
Email by going to a web site. All you will need is your browser
(the program you are using to view this web page); there will be
no need to install any new software on your computer. Another advantage
of web based Email accounts is that you can access them from any
where in the world you can find an Internet connection. These are
some of the most popular free Email services, all of which are easy
to use and offer a good range of functions, particularly Hotmail
and Yahoo:
Fastmail - Offers 10mb
storage space for your emails. Very fast, even using a dial up
modem, and free of advertising.
Hotmail - Offers antivirus
protection by McAffee. You get 250mb of storage space for your
emails.
Yahoo - Also offers antivirus
scans, by Norton. You get I gb (1000 mb) of storage space for
your emails.
